My 1995 Isuzu Trooper wont hold a charge .. is not the alternator, what can it be?

We replaced the alternator and found what we thought was bad, was not. Checked the wiring harness/relay, the battery, everything.... Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this won't hold a charge? It runs when jumped, I can run the heat, but not

my guess is the voltage regulator.
